What happened?
Our client was out cycling when a driver travelling in the same direction made an unsafe attempt to overtake him. The vehicle collided with our client’s bike, causing him to be thrown into the air before landing on the pavement.
In the fall, the top of our client’s left arm where it meets the shoulder was fractured and dislocated. He also suffered a brachial plexus injury, meaning the main bundle of nerves controlling his arm and shoulder was damaged.
What was the impact?
Our client has described the aftermath of the accident as an “extremely difficult period” in his life.
The nerve damage he suffered caused muscle wastage, which was further complicated by a pre-existing injury. This can often make everyday tasks like dressing, cooking and even lifting objects challenging.
He also suffered psychologically as a result of his accident, which is not unusual in cases involving road traffic collisions.
